This impressive looking seafront property was designed and forged around the clients’ desire to have large open plan living spaces on multiple levels.
The front lounge boasts large bifold doors and fixed glazing which make the most of the impressive views and sunsets over Whitstable Bay.
The property’s structural elements comprise of a Douglas Fir timber structural frame, with a white softwood finish, which was infilled with Structurally Insulated Panels. These were then clad externally in Canadian ‘Cape Cod’ pre painted cladding to give that desired ‘beach house effect’.
There are many benefits to using a timber frame for new builds including sustainability, design flexibility, speed of construction, longevity and durability.
Another benefit of using timber frames is energy efficiency. Timber frames excel in thermal performance and allow for high levels of insulation, keeping homes warm in winter and cool in summer. To no surprise, this house was designed to Code 4 of the code for sustainable homes and thus highly energy efficient.
