Tim Day Construction delivered a traditionally styled, brick and block-built detached home using a cavity wall system for reliable thermal and structural performance.
While the superstructure followed a standard approach, the foundations for this project utilised a piled raft foundation using the specialist Housedeck solution. This involves a patented piled raft foundation and ground floor solution designed for residential structures.
This piled foundation system was implemented with the main structure in mind, as structural slabs are suspended on piles with a void beneath to prevent issues caused by soil movement.
Housedeck offers cost and programme certainty, performing up to 70% faster than traditional methods, while also being safer (LABC and NHBC approved) and more environmentally friendly by reducing concrete use, spoil removal, and site traffic.
It replaces the need for strip or pile-and-beam foundations and suits all construction types, including timber frame and modular builds, with adaptability for varied ground conditions, heave risks or potential gas presence.
This combination of classic building methods and modern engineering showcases Tim Day Construction’s ability to adapt and deliver high-quality results on more complex residential projects.
